Hong Kong Mission

Norris, on the staff at MH, recently enjoyed the Hong Kong experience – a world vastly different.

Travelling is one of the most refreshing things to do for the mind. Sure, a 20 hour day spent in airports and airplanes – trying to relieve the boredom of the journey to our destination, not only for myself but also a one year old, is definately not refreshing. But the thrill of the new impacting my senses is a sure tonic. I’m not one for the big tourist sights – just walking down the street in a new country gives me the rush of the unfamiliar.

Recently my family travelled to Hong Kong to visit my sister and enjoy the experience of being immersed in something really different. HK is a great. Easy, friendly and well organised to get around. You can feel pretty safe and comfortable but still have the feeling that your somewhere vastly different.

Armed with a small collection of dead stock Russian Cameras – a small passion i have discovered recently – I’ve tried to capture a few image ‘sketches’ of our trip. They seem to work best in a collective montage – sort of like ingredients to make a cake – to give a larger view of the experience.

Hong Kong is a perfect location for photography. There is a picture everywhere you turn. I’m sure the thrill of the new and different help to keep the index finger pressing the button – something that does not always happen at home.

I have more photos of Hong Kong, and many other subjects, which can be seen at www.lomohomes.com/pokari.
