Birds – the Art of New Zealand Birdlife

Birds is a recent exhibition at Pataka Museum, Porirua. The exhibition show-cased the work of fifty-nine artists, from Bill Hammond, Shane Cotton and Don Binney, to Fiona Pardington, Wayne Youle and Laurence Aberhart. It is a stunning collection, both in it’s sheer size and the poignancy of it’s coverage of New Zealand’s native fauna.

To assist in promoting this remarkable collection of New Zealand art, Pataka enlisted Mission Hall Creative to develop the exhibition catalogue, invitations and press advertising. Colour and black and white reproductions of selected artworks were used in conjunction with die-cuts representing ornithologist’s binoculars to create a bird-watcher’s view of some of the exhibition highlights.
